Welcome

The decision to enter therapy is a difficult one and indicates a serious commitment to  improving and changing your life. My job is to join you in that commitment, and in doing so help you develop a sense of what you need and where you want your life to take you. For some this means establishing goals and priorities, for others it means figuring out how to achieve them.

I am a firm believer that no one form of treatment is right for everyone, but the foundations of the therapy I provide lie within:

  • Identifying and exploring patterns
  • Providing support
  • Alleviating misery and distress
  • Helping you increase your understanding of yourself, your decisions, and the circumstances outside of you that have precipitated and contributed to the situation bringing you to treatment

For each of my clients the focus and plan for our work together will vary depending on your individual needs, goals, and situation; for some our work may be to help you change to more effectively navigate your present circumstances, for others our work may revolve around helping you change an environment or circumstance that isn’t working for you. Services

I provide outpatient therapy to adults, couples, and adolescents. I have provided successful therapy for people struggling with depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, parenting adjustments, occupational/academic difficulties, interpersonal conflict, and relationship problems.

I am available to provide either short-term or long-term treatment and will discuss treatment options and preferences with you as we begin our work together.  I typically see individuals once a week for 50 minutes, but adjustments can be made based on need, schedule, and reasons for presenting to treatment.

In addition to providing general therapy I am also available to provide specialized Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills training. Please visit my Dialectical Behavior therapy page for more information about this service.

For individuals wishing to know more about the theories informing my practice I have provided the following links to Wikipedia for an informal and accessible breakdown of influential theories. If you are interested in more scholarly information I can provide referrals to authors and books upon request. With couples, my work is primarily informed by Emotionally Focused Therapy.  With individuals, my work is informed by a combination of Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Attachment Theory, and Self Psychology.
