Ongoing professional development has been instrumental to my practice and ability to meet the individualized needs of my clients. Highlights of my commitment to professional development include:
- 8 years (as opposed to the minimum 2 years required in Illinois) of professional consultation with a senior therapist in the field to strengthen diagnostic skills, case conceptualization, and application of theory in the disciplines of mind-body connection, self-psychology, and attachment.
- Participation for 5+ years in an ongoing professional reading group where academic articles, journals, and books on effective psychotherapy practice are read, discussed, and applied to clinical practice.
- Numerous trainings on trauma, safe embodiment, and the intersection of mental health and mindfulness including 20 hours of training (much of which in intensive small group format) with David Wallin, author of Attachment in Psychotherapy.
- Cultural competence trainings on minority experiences and special considerations for treatment in transgender individuals, immigrants, and African American women. Additional trainings on the intersection of race and culture.
- Extensive training on Telemental Health including a certification from the Zur institute on Telemental Health and Digital Ethics.
